A Game of Shadows – the Shifting Perspectives of Physics

A Game of Shadows – the Shifting Perspectives of Physics

A Game of Shadows – the Shifting Perspectives of Physics
“In the world of physics we watch a shadow graph performance of familiar life… The frank realisation that physical science is concerned with a world of shadows is one of the most significant of recent advances” – Eddington (the Nature of the Physical world)
“Please note that the very recent advance does not lie in the world of physics itself having acquired this shadowy character; it had ever since Democritus of Abdera and even before, but we were not aware of it; we thought we were dealing with the world itself.” – Erwin Schroedinger (Ibid., p 130.)
A study of the development of scientific perspective on the physiophere reveals a gradual, and somewhat begrudging, awakening to the subject/object dualism fallacy.
The cosmos is thus replaced with the Kosmos – one of interior depth and relational exchange on an intentional level. Intimate knowledge surpasses empirical knowledge as the appropriate mode of knowing.
We have a relationship with the Kosmos in mutual observation and dynamic play. Only in non-dual awareness and identity is this dualism resolved along with all the ‘gaps’ and ‘difficulties’ of modern science trying to deny interiority to every holon.
Much of the knowledge and perspective shared in this work come from the Midgard Expeditions hermeneutic immersions. This is the intimate knowledge not acquired through dry academic treatment of a subject. This comes from participation and immersion. As we look, even through the empirical lens, at the material cosmos we see there is nothing but participation, influence through intention and observation. We see holons with perspectives and only that. The illusion of the separate self, or subject, is a failure to acquire instruments sensitive enough to see ‘the world itself’.
There is no real distinction between subject and object other than symbolically. Where subject and object are held as distinct only symbolic knowledge is acquired. And as we have seen in linguistics theory, symbols and signifiers are not reliable witnesses or communicators. The illusive signified and the rare encounter with the referent through dialogue is far better sought through unapologetic participation, immersion, and experience.
We intrude wherever we go to observe. We find when using the right instalments that it is not we that intrude on the other… it is we who look upon our Self from some perspective. So this is less an intrusion and more Self discovery.
All discovery is Self discovery.
Through the Midgard Expedition I have sought “an intimate knowledge of the reality behind the symbols of science.”( Eddington)
This has led me to stray, at my peril, away from the academically respectable symbolic knowledge and its mapping systems. My grandfather knew well that to bring yourself and your experience to the dialogue is to lose credibility with the exterior map makers of the cosmos. So I have never bothered to seek it in the first place – the acceptance that is. This means no grants, no papers published, no titles and letters behind your name. This means the long way round.

What is good news for this approach is that you get to live and work in the real world as you find it, not as the symbols would have you believe it to be. You can deliver from this unenviable position, banished by academia and science to live in the world as it is, to explore its depth and breadth, interior and exterior, experience its texture, colour, sound and light, to contemplate it through vision logic, to see it with the illuminated mind, to feel it with the intuitive mind, to witness it with the overmind and to be it with the super mind. ( Aurobindo’s terms for the levels of cognitive development are used here)
There are benefits to this banishment. The greatest one being life lived experientially and then the expeditions and adventures, albeit all self sponsored, that take you to an intimacy, and immediacy, a real encounter with the self system we all set out to discover and understand in the first place. We can so easily lose our way in the world of symbolic knowledge, as critical as those maps are for any explorer, but if we don’t at some stage get out into the territory and experience it, then what was the search for truth all about? To know its location alone and not visit it, can this be knowledge of a thing or a place? To visit its exteriors only and by second hand accounts or through symbols and signs, without intimacy with its interiors, its depth, its height, this is to miss the expedition all together this is to stay behind on the shore of the Kosmic ocean and await postcards from the expeditions crew.
This imperfect (by early modern scientific perspective), but intimate science is all we actually have, we are all holons with perspectives. The brave will begin the expedition without assurances of what lies out there or in here. The courageous will feel that salt on their skin and the wind through their hair… they will taste it and they will not wait. They will go because someone has to. These men and women have always been with us but are not always published. They are the true heroes of our epic human tales. They are the Achilles of our interiors, whom Eros serves for a time ironically. This irony is what we all need to learn to live with until it is resolved by our own development to a more elevated non-dual perspective.
Scientific instruments
Was Democritus, the well travelled explorer and proponent of atomistic theory, not the epitome of the irony of subject/object dualism? – Such an Ernest explorer using what instruments to detect the atomic structure of the cosmos 400 years BC? – He, the driven, motivated, somewhat selfless seeker of truth, driven by what other than Eros and Agape? – While denying Eros and laughing at his absurd contemporaries; denying methodologies or perspectives of depth, while employing nothing but them to prove mechanistic methodology and atomistic reality as the foundation of everything – intuition and observation, contemplation, reason, dialogue and peer review. He the dualistic display itself atomised from the greater cosmos. No wonder he was the laughing philosopher. Laughing at himself and the absurdity of the human condition. Plato is said to not have liked his science and methods, but I think he would have liked the man. He would have recognised the impulse and the intention. Alas Democritus was not a social being.
How absurd we are searching for instruments to study the cosmos when we are the highest instrument available. As an expression of what we seek, we transcend and include as interior to us all the exteriors and interiors of the entire display. We, the vessel, the instrument, the miniature, the highest expression of the cosmos, the observer and instrument of observation, the object and the subject, we, the conscious awakening of the slumbering exteriors, with our over developed exterior eye and our infantile mind’s contemplative eye looking for the other while staring ourselves in the face without recognition. How absurd we are and no wonder the great Zen explorers say all that is left to do when we finally awaken is laugh. We employ this instrument that we are and gain this intimate knowledge only after exhausting our outward eye and every instrumental extension of it. We see and laugh when we finally go inward and discover that interior to us, all of us, all sentient beings, the totality of being, lays the object of our searching, and it is not an object at all.

The exteriors are all our interiors and we transcend and include, in our real identity and in our ultimate cognitive development, the totality of what we thought to be outside. What we thought was our context was what we were contextualising all along. Our expeditions were of our own interiors, the workings of our metabolism, seen through the instruments (our separate selves’ bodies) that we mistook of our self. The little self is the instrument and the real Self the context, the ground, the consciousness, the Self – experiential observation of the whole display.
So, when you think of the Midgard Expedition please do not think of it only as physical adventure and travel. Think of it as vertical and horizontal exploration using all the elements of the cosmos as the vessels, the entire Kosmoc holon, interior and exterior, as the territory explored and the and the entire kosmos as the instrument for verification and peer review.

The Rainbow Nation – Lost In Translation

The Rainbow Nation – Lost In Translation

The Rainbow Nation – lost In translation; found in an understanding of diversity, not of colour, culture and language, but in the spiral dynamics of all stages of human development in a meta culture of acceptance, inclusion, encouragement and transcendence of limiting patterns of thought.

So much energy is expended on dialogue about the solutions for our Rainbow Nation between parties not yet at the level of development where the problems facing the people of South Africa are visible. Each of the major discreet stages of human development usher in new panoramas, whole new perspectives of broader and higher reach, depth and breadth of embrace. Whole new possibilities for the expansion of identity to something much more inclusive.

The old adage that ‘the solutions for problems created at a level of development are not found at that same level of development’ could not be more profoundly illustrated than in the dynamics of change in ‘The New South Africa’ – which looks very much like the old one with new exploiters of power at the helm.

The coining of the term ‘Rainbow Nation’ came, in part, from 68 constitutive visits by Donald Beck with Nelson Mandela to elucidate a spectrum of consciousness through which all people, cross culturally, develop toward human maturity. This was to allow diverse world views to relate to one another in a culture of encouragement and transcendence of limitations on every front.

The issue of racism is not resolved at the level of race. It is solved at the transcendence of race and inclusion of racial world views as valid but partial. All races, all cultures, look very much the same at the various stages of their development. And so, we face, not so much the lack of understanding between one race and another. We loose, in translation, a common thread, between discrete levels of development across the whole spectrum of consciousness common to all culture.

Posturing and promoting the merits of ones developmental level, mistaken for cultural attributes or race, is what most of the dialogue in South Africa is about in the popular media. Confusing and blaming race for general, shared, developmental problems is our Achilles Heal.

A truly integral perspective, one that includes all views, methodologies and perspectives, is not easily attained.

A clear framework, to make this spectrum known to all, is a starting point to illuminating the possibilities for all people, at any stage of development, to move through the various levels of potential development.

This frame work, or spectrum of development potential, is far better understood and more commonly accepted in terms of child development, through discrete stages. Most will accept that the world looks very different between the archaic, sensory-motor phase of development from birth to 18 months, for example, than it does at the magic/emotional phase from 2 till 4 or 5 and agin at the Mythic phase from 5 till 7 or 11 to the Rational phase and on to the Rational/Pluralistic phase in teenage years, where multiple perspectives can be entertained, and on again to Mature Reason later in life.

Our development can be arrested at any point and come to rest at any stage of childhood or adult development.

To see the potentials, across all people, for this developmental progression, throughout life is one of the true gifts of the Rainbow Nation concept.

The tools of support and encouragement, toward the highest ideals of this Rainbow Nation concept, are what we should be investing in.

The challenge is enormous and unprecedented, for the most part, in human history. This change requires leadership with an integral world view and integrative potential.

Leadership, that has transcended the limitations of the populous, but includes all the diversity in a compassionate embrace and can provide a culture of encouragement, is what we should be seeking.

Where and who are these leaders? How could we identify them?

Effective Microorganisms -Their Role in our Biosphere

Effective Microorganisms -Their Role in our Biosphere

What are EM’s? Where did EM originate?  What are their effects? What are their applications? How to apply EM and what to expect.

What are EM’s?

  • Effective (beneficial ) naturally occurring aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms
  • They live in a symbiotic relationship with one another
  • They live in coexistence and co-prosperity – so they can eat
many kinds of food and circulate food for their own existence
In this formulation they are more dominating than most other
    micro-organisms and eliminate harmful microorganisms
  • EM prevents putrefaction, wherever it is applied to and
changes the environment in soil, water, intestines, blood…
Through this there is no space for sickness inducing microbes.
  • Their medium ideally has a pH below 3.7

Where did EM originate? em-orginate

The basics of EM came from Japan. The same families of beneficial microorganisms are joining in through the air, water and other materials, which are produced in South Africa and through the multiplication process at the site.
Effective Microorganisms Include:

  • Actinomycetes (e.g. streptomyces griseus)
  • Photosynthetic bacteria (e.g. rhodopseudomonas palustris)
  • Fermenting fungi (e.g. mucor hiemalis)
  • Yeasts (e.g. sacchoromyces cerevisine)
  • Lactic acid bacteria (e.g.lactobacillus casei, streptococcus lactis)
Less is More

Less is More

Less is More
My question, Socratic question – to any one of the hundreds of persons who wide eyed and excited have told me that they know someone who has just invented, designed, produced – free energy from a machine (they saw in an eighties new age science documentary) and is just about to give it or sell it to the world – is what will you or they do with that energy?
What do they want energy for in a world that has too much already and uses it to produce more stuff that it does not need which causes more waste and resource depletion than our biospheric system can sustain? The next question is: have they seen it work? – and they never have. Not once in 30 years of asking have they seen it work, let alone been able to buy one and put it to good use.
To a stage of infantile human evolution still obsessed with more and more toys- in particular free energy, clean energy, bla, bla, bla – these things are all the same thing – another toy, more shiny beads to distract themselves with until they mature into something deeper. The damage caused by adding more energy to the industrial complex and the child like worldview of the new age ‘engineers’ who are going to save the world through more, is very measurable and the only viable solutions are offered through less. Less is more – in terms of sustainability of our biosphere and ethnosphere. We don’t need more of anything we need much, much less. We need mature leadership and citizenry that have outgrown the greedy little child stage of human development, co-creating efficient, minimalist temporary autonomous zones of human habitation based on encouraging more depth in humanity and human experience and enterprise and less breadth or production of more of the same in the material sphere. Of course there are so many ‘good things’ planned for this free, clean energy, that one hesitates to introduce an integral perspective, to give context, to this kind of naive optimism.
Then of course there are those who ‘know’ the aliens are bringing us, or already have brought us, this free energy. In their story, and it is always an exciting story, filled with intrigue and conspiracy, soon the aliens will give us the technologies they have had for so long and all will be well… the big bad wolf currently prevents this from happening OR they will give it to us when we are evolved enough not to hurt ourselves with it. The second story line might come from some kind of intuition or archetype with some basis in a healthy perspective on the evolution of consciousness and stage appropriate technologies. The first is quite pathological and boarders on psychotic paranoia. Some of these folk have seen these aliens, mated with them, had their eggs harvested, etc, which shows that the genius aliens want to breed with our country bumpkins, already inbred, simple folk from rural wherever… there just is no explaining taste on the romantic front.
The evidence for this and the argument, for the most part, is that these sightings and experiences are wide spread and numerous – could so many people be completely deluded? And the answer is yes, definitely.
For the most part humanity sits at the Mythic-Rational phase of development now – trying to find compelling reasons for their mythological beliefs and world views. This is why there is such a ready supply of this nonsense and such an appetite and audience for it.
We could spend ages on the subject of developmental levels and the correlations in what we ‘see’ as reality from those perspectives. Suffice to say if you are waiting for an alien, leader, deity or some power god or great ‘other’ to provide solutions and give direction then you are at the Mythic or Mythic-Rational level of development and the good news is, as comforting as that perspective is for a while, there is so much more to come for you.
Serious students of human development generally agree, cross-culturally, in a discernible progression in humanity from Archaic/Hunter Gatherer; to Magic/Tribal/Animism; to Mythic/City States/Religious; to Rational/Nation States/Scientism; to Pluralistic/ United Nations/World centric compassion; to Integral/Global Commons/compassion for and identity with all sentient life; and so on – with many degrees in-between these major shifts or stages of discrete development.
It is the good folk of the Mythic-Rational-Pluralistic stage, of the spiral dynamic affair that human development takes, with its progression and regression, that are most excited about the imminent change to ‘safer tools and toys’ of which clean, free energy will be the driver. Hopefully we push though that phase quite quickly and mature into something less lava like in our need for consumption. The healthy, mature end is, not to be better or cleverer or more conscious consumers of new energy and new products, but to not need them any longer.

The liberation from slavery to the industrial complex lies not in the pathological need for more but in less – in no longer needing ‘it’ at all.

Less is more.
